Catalogue for Franco Antonio Mirenzi

Mirenzi, Franco Antonio (b. 1959, Pizzoni). Italian composer and professor of music composition at Santa Cecilia Conservatory of Music in Rome.

After high school, Mirenzi devoted himself to music graduating in organ, organ composition as well as music education. He then attended the specialization lectures in music composition held by Aldo Clementi and Salvatore Sciarrino among others.

Later he devoted himself to concert performances and music composition alongside the teaching of music composition at Santa Cecilia Conservatory of Music in Rome where he has been working since 1992.

His compositions can be included in the classical music genre, characterized by an allusive lightness with signs of minimalism. Rather than being revolutionary, his works often disregard the harmony and balance of proportions and can be considered as belonging to a post-modern style.

In 1997 he was appointed member of the Consiglio Nazionale della Pubblica Istruzione, where he contributed to the editing of the report on music education in schools. Mirenzi has published several essays on the topic of music education.
